Following a series of successful Trade Conferences focusing on Morocco, Tunisia and Libya, the Middle East Association is planning to hold the Algeria Trade & Investment Conference on 6th November 2008 at the BERR Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London.

The British Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Mr Gareth Thomas, the Algerian Minister of Industry and Investment, H.E Dr Abdelhamid Temmar and the British Ambassador to Algeria, Mr Andrew Henderson will be present in the plenary session of the conference as keynote speakers.

Algeria is an important trading partner for the UK, with UK exports to Algeria totalling £169 million in 2007. Algerian exports to the UK were worth £910 million during the same period. The country has the largest gas reserves in Africa as well as supplying gas to Europe by pipeline as liquefied natural gas (LNG). It is expected to be supplying up to 10% of the UK’s gas demand by 2010.

This timely conference will offer a unique opportunity to learn about major projects and to view developments in the Algerian economy as well as provide a platform for networking between UK companies and high level Algerian private and public sector representatives.
